Adrien Brody’s acceptance speech ran long, just like the film itself, however the two-time Oscar winner commended The Oscars for reviving his career. Brody told the viewing audience that he is hoping for twenty more years in cinema. Twenty-three year-old newcomer Mikey Madison was Oscar’s surprise winner, beating out established actresses for the coveted win, The film Anora, basically a remix of Pretty Woman which made Julia Roberts a star, surprised viewers this evening with five wins, including Best Director for Sean Baker, whose impassioned speech beseeching viewers to go to the movies was an interesting side note at a time when streaming has viewers engaged in films at home and not at the movies. Zoe Saldana, was the first Dominican actress to win Best Supporting Actress for Emilia Perez in her streaming hit distributed by Netflix.
