The 2026 edition of the Florida Prize in Contemporary Art is on display at The Orlando Museum of Aty (OMA). This year’s artists are: Maria Theresa Barbist, Rose Marie Cromwell, Jason Hackenwerth, Meredith Laura Lynn & Katie Hargrave, Francisco Masó, Jessy Nite, Charo Oquet, Ema Ri, Mette Tommerup, and We Are Nice’n Easy.
Visual arts on display included painting, photography, and sculpture to site-specific installations, assemblage, weaving, and including large-scale, immersive works and minimalist art work. “One common thread that emerges across several of this year’s artists and their practices relates to language; from literal text-based works to unspoken or coded systems, foreign tongues, spiritual and ritualistic practices, the passing of knowledge throughout historical eras and family ties, and the impulse to communicate and develop a visual language and vocabulary,” added the OMA website.
The exhibition is on display through August 23, 2026. Art teachers, educators, students, and well everyone in Central Florida or visiting the region should take a sneak peek at this original and breathtaking plethora of unique voices with a common thread-individuality and insight into the voice of our local culture and art community.
